Monologue

My Monologue was Blackbird playing the role of Una I researched the play and what it was about. The play is about two people who once had a passionate affair and who meet again fifteen years later. Una was 12 and he was 40. 
I then thought of the emotions of what Una had gone through. I used sad and panicking when acting out the scene e.g "you wouldn't have left me,you wouldn't have done that" as for sad. Una wants to be on the ferry and is in a outside environment outside the harbour. She then tells the story of her sitting on the beach that she was tired cold,hungry and crying at this point in the monologue I slowed  down and acted out that I was fed up by crossing my arms.

The forbidden planet was written by Bob Carlton in the 1950's. The story is based on Shakespeare's "the tempest" and the 1950's film "forbidden planet". The musical first opened in London's West End Cambridge theatre in 1989 and opened on Broadway in 1991.In 1990 Olivier Award for Best Musical bursts for "Return of the Forbidden planet"  with red hot rock and roll hits, including Great Balls of Fire, Good Vibrations, Teenager in Love,

On a stormy night way back in the winter of 2009, mad scientist Doctor Prospero worked late in his laboratory, aided only by his wife, Gloria, as he developed the elusive formula with which he would change the world. The apparently faithful Gloria, however, duped him and sent him off into hyper-space in an old spacecraft. Unknown to Gloria, her infant daughter, Miranda, slumbered peacefully in the craft and was now catapulted light years into the future in her father's company. Fifteen years later, a routine survey flight under the command of the chisel-jawed Captain Tempest leaves earth's orbit with a new Science Officer aboard - a hard and bitter woman. As a shower of meteorites hits the ship, the Science Officer flees, and the craft is pulled inexorably towards the plant D'Illyria.

Acting

Today was my first class of acting with Sue, I was very excited as acting was what I was going to pick before dance. We was introduced on what we was going to be doing this year. We also played some games and did some work on facial expressions I thought that this was a good class to help us out with our performances/dances to connect with the audience when doing the show cases and other work around college or inside.

Today in class we played a memory game this was by remember who we threw the ball to and then remember who we then walked to,we then did this but going backwards it was very tricky for some people as they weren't focused or wasn't listening to eachother. I found that this was a good game for me as I could remember everyone's names (new people 1st years).

Today we worked on slow motion and stillness this was by us performing to members of the class by following eachother's hands around the space in the drama studio, this was very fun but my group found it hard when we had to go into stillness/tableau.

Blind leading-  trust partnership. 

Today I was put with Opal for blind leading this was something very different to what we hadn't   done before, I needed to trust her alot in the directions she gave me on where to go this tested our partnership and team work,we had one little bump with another partner but this was due to instructions not being clear or loud. I found that me and Opal work well as partners as we ganged alot of trust with eachother and followed instructions clearly. 

Today we was told that we would be having a cover for sue till the new year, this was very disappointing as I had started to get into acting and she helped me with my confidence in my performance.

Today we was told that we would be doing Musical theatre in the show case for December this was a shock to us 2nd years as we hadn't done it before, I like musical theatre and this is something I am hoping to do when I am older.  We first was told that we was going to be doing "Return of the Forbidden planet" I had never heard of this musical before so I knew that i'd have to research it.

 

Today I was told that I'd be taking a main role of the Return of the forbidden planet this was being the character Burton this was a man who is a good guy. I am happy of taking role of a man this means I would have to watch clips of "Return of forbidden planet" and see the way he acts and the accent he speaks.
We also created the start of the first scene of the play,the was by creating the space ship and using unison and canon by pushing out and making the noises "oossshhh" and "woshhh"

Our class started to put together the scene of the song "good vibrations". The class was very load and energetic but there was concentration or focus as I think it was the end of the day and everyone wanted to just go home .To improve the scene we need to perform  and work as a team we also need to clean clean the scene to make it a  good performance.



we spent all of our acting lesson rehearing the "good vibrations" scene.Clare decided that we are only performing one scene from the forbidden planet .Once we got going in class we then went over  "good vibrations" scene over and over again I have become much more aware of what I was doing and singing confident in the positions and gestures that I was doing. I got the chance to practice the song and learn about what parts we were singing.

I researched into what the scene was meant to be like and acted out, I found out that the crew member were very energetic and looking like there having the time of there life. This is the scene we are meant to be doing ;
